Ballet for contemporary dancers

Tina Højlund has an impressive career behind her as a soloist at the Royal Danish Ballet. She trained at the Royal Ballet School and was appointed soloist in the company in 1998. She is a dancer with strong presence in the classical repertoire of Bournonville’s ballets such as Teresina in “Napoli” (1998), Effy in “La Sylphide” (1999) and Birthe in “A Folk Tale” (2002). Also in main parties as Kitri in “Don Quixote” and Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”. Tina Højlund is a dedicated dancer in both the classical and modern repertoire and is in Denmark known as that very gifted dancer who masters both repertoires. She is nationally known for contemporary dancing in Tim Rushton’s “Sweet Complaint” (1998), “Naples – the new” (2003) and Alexander Kølpins new version of “Sylfiden” (2001). Tina Højlund was for a number of years a regular dancer in Denmarks famous contemporary dance company “Danish Dance Theatre”.

Improvisation og kontaktimprovisation

Ellen Kilsgaard er uafhængig dansekunster specialiceret i improvisatoriske processer – hun skaber og performer dans, solo, i samarbejdskonstallationer og som koreograf. Hun arbejder med improvisation som disciplineret formgivning af kroppens sansede feedback – som en praksis der skaber bro mellem et indre sanset rum og et ydre performativt rum. Hun lægger vægt på intuition og relation – både mellem dansere, dansere og publikum, og danserens relation til rum, omgivelser og objekter.

Ellen Kilsgaard har studeret dans og koreografi på School for New Dance Development, NL (1995 -1999) og har derudover en MA med udmærkelse fra Dartington College of Arts, (nu Falmouth University College), UK, som hun fik i 2008. Hun var ‘artist in residence’ ved Dagdha Dance Company, Limerick, Ireland, i sæsonen 2008-2009 og har siden 2010 haft base i København.
Ellen Kilsgaard har bred international undervisningserfaring. Hun har blandt andet været extern lecturer på Dartington College of Arts, UK, været linjefagslærer i dans og performance på Vrå Højskole og undervist professionelle i Dagdha Dance Company, Irland.

Andrew Bowman is a former principal dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet. He was born in New Zealand and trained at the Australian Ballet School in 1996. As a 18-year-old, he joined the Royal Danish Ballet, where he was employed for 11 years. In 2001 he was appointed principal dancer and has danced in “Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake”, “Nutcracker”, “Etudes”, as Lensky in John Crankos “Onegin”, as Des Grieux in Kenneth MacMillans “Manon,” as Struensee in Flemming Flindt “Caroline Mathilde” and in Peter Martins “Hallelujah Junction” – a work he also danced with New York City Ballet – and many more…
Andrew Bowman has followed his wish to work with dancers from all over the world and has performed and taught at several of the world’s ballet companies and ballet schools.
